Praying through Kawempe . . .

. . . step at a time!! Thank you for your commitment to "walk" the alleys of Kawempe and pray for those who call this community home. There are hundreds of men, women and children crammed into this area of Kampala. As you walk through this area, please stop to pray for those who are bound by Satan. May those who live in Kawempe be free from the bondage that keeps them from experiencing God!

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus or Lord." Romans 8:38-39

Pastor Deo Bamanya and Pastor Deon Katende

Meet Pastor Deo, his wife Irene and his two precious children. Deo is living and ministering in Kawempe. The weekly house church and Sunday Celebration Service are a testament to the good work that is taking place in Kawempe. This area is thirsting for the gospel. Pray for Pastor Deo and his family as they minsiter to those who are hurting, seeking and desperate for the truth.

Meet Pastor Deon, a young man with a heart and passion for the Lord. Pray for Deon as he lives and minsters to those in Kawempe and in Mulago Hospital. May God bless him with endurance and provide those to encourage him as he daily seeks to share the gospel with those in his community and church.

We thank God for these two men who are on a mission to reach Kawempe for Christ!!

"Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground." Psalms 143:10

In the shadow of . . .

Islam, ancestor worship and witch doctors. As you can see by the beads and charms wrapped around these precious babies, many still seek guidance through false voices. These false voices shroud this community in darkness. There are many in this community who are seeking, but looking in all the wrong places. Pray that those in Kawempe will seek the One who can provide them with hope and life!

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7

Yet there is light in the darkness . . .

"Light your candle. Go light your world." That is exactly what this church is doing in Kawempe! Praise God for those like Pastor Deo, Pastor Deon and other church leaders who are helping others to "light" their candle in a dark world. The leaders in this church and those who worship here every week are spreading the gospel and making Him known. Please pray for those who live in darkness in this community, that the light of Jesus Christ may shine brighter than ever before. May many come to know the voice of truth, it only takes a spark!!

"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light." Luke 8:16

Welcome to Kalerwe

Thank you for prayer walking with us through Kalerwe! Praise God for your love and willingness to walk along side us to pray for those who so desperately need Jesus. Many in this area suffer from abject poverty, disease and addiction. However, Kalerwe Church is becoming a beacon of light in this dark and desperate community. Pray that those who are bound by addiction to drugs and alcohol will find the voice of truth through all the noise of false teachings. May the word of TRUTH be shouted loudly from the rooftops so that all may know!

"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." 1 John 4:4

Meet Pastor Benon Kasimbura

Pastor Benon and his family minister to those who live in Kalerwe. Praise God for Benon, Betteth and their little girl Christy. May God give him endurance and strength to meet the many needs of his congregation and community. May God protect his time with his family and give him wisdom to teach the gospel according to the scriptures. Pray that God will bless him and the ministry of reaching Kalerwe for Christ!

"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15

God bless the little children . . .

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

Praise God for these beautiful children who can find most anything to play with! Our prayer is that God will place people in their lives who will love them, watch over them and raise them to be young men and woman who love the Lord. We pray for good health,
adequate shelter and food to help them grow healthy. May God watch over them and keep them and may they come to know him as their personal Savior. Pray for more workers within Kalerwe Church to come forward to teach these little children that Jesus loves the children, all the children of the world!

Hopeless and in need of . . .

JESUS!! The thousands who live in Kalerwe are in need of one thing, JESUS. Please join us in prayer for those who live in this area of Kampala. Many are seeking and looking in all the wrong places. The picture to your left is a large pot of millet beer or better known here as "Marua". You can walk along most streets and find groups of men sitting around this big pot and using four foot long straws to drink through. This area is also known for high crime and drug use, especially among young men. Pray that God will shine brightly in this dark area. May the young people who so desperatly seek, find Christ!

"Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." Psalms 103:2-5
