Welcome to Kampala . . .

Thank you for your commitment to intentionally pray for our city. There are approximately 3 million people who come from all over Uganda to find work. The majority of those who live in our capital live on less than $1 a day. Many are seeking and hopeless. This city is a place of great extreme. A place of great beauty next to the extreme of great poverty. God is at work in this city of extremes and He is among those who are seeking to find a voice. Our prayer is that they will find His voice, the voice of truth! Prayer is such a mighty weapon and we are so grateful that you are joining us in this journey. So, get ready prayer warriors lets walk through . . .
"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." Isaiah 30:21

Kawuku . . . meet Pastor Dickens Okoth

We ask for prayer for Pastor Dickens and those he ministers to in Kawuku. He is a newly married and young pastor who has recently begun leading worship in this community of approximately 2,500 people! Pray for Dickens and his wife, Margaret as they seek to be His hands and His feet in this area. There are many trials and struggles that effect this young church. We ask God to provide wisdom, encouragement and endurance to Dickens and the other leaders within this community!
"And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:15

What does church look like . . .

As you can see, church can meet just about anywhere! This little structure was church for one Sunday. The need for some type of shelter is great in the hot African sun and unpredictable rain showers. Please pray for those who meet in Kawuku each Sunday. These faithful believers had been meeting outside under a tree, then in this little shelter and now in a school. Pray for some sort of permanent meeting location where this new congregation can meet, worship and witness to their community. Even though their church location may be uncertain, one thing they know is certain, is the love and provision of Jesus Christ.
"For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20

Many distractions . . .

All over the world, Satan uses excuses and distractions to keep people from coming to know about the one true God. As you can see from this picture, these men are being distracted by a game of cards. Satan uses all sorts of distractions, such as cards, dice and local brew to keep men and women from coming to have a deeper knowledge and relationship with Jesus. Pray that the Holy Spirit will begin a work in the hearts of these men and women. Pray that they will seek Him instead of earthly distractions.
"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14

Pray that all may know . . .

Thank you for walking through Kawuku today! May God bless this time that you have spent walking and praying through this community. Please continue to lift up Dickens, his wife Margaret, Jake and Jana (Kampala Urban Team members) who are working with the children this semester and especially for those who are lost and seeking the voice of truth. Pray that all may know Him!
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
