Welcome to Namuwango . . .

also known as Soweto, one of the largest and poorest communities in Kampala. Many in this area come from the north to escape civil violence and to find employment. Crime, disease and hopelessness shroud Soweto. However, the light of Jesus Christ is shining brightly into the darkest corners of this community, through those who worship here each week. Please pray for those who live and work around the church. Pray that they may hear the words preached, the praises being sung, and the adungu, making a joyful noise unto the Lord. Pray for those in the church, that they may not fear to share the saving grace of Jesus Christ with their neighbors and friends. Thank you in joining us in prayer for Soweto!

Abundant Gospel Sowing

That is our prayer! Please pray for abundant gospel sowing in the area of Soweto. We know that God will bless this community with His word. Pray that these worshippers will be bold in their testimonies and sharing of the Word. Pray for guidance to those they should share with and disciple. Thank you for your commitment to lift this church and community before the Father. May He be glorified through it all!

Praise & Worship . . . Acholi style

This is the adungu, a musical instrument, its size determining its sound! It could sound like a guitar or a harp, but either way, you know you are praising God Acholi style when you hear them play. We praise God for the gift of worship through music. What a blessing these instruments make to the sounds of life in Soweto. May God bless the time of praise and worship as it reaches the ears of those in this community. Pray that God will speak to them who so desperately need to hear Him!

Pastor Thomas Abach

Meet Pastor Thomas and his wife, Florence. Please lift up this family in prayer as they live and minister in this community. Pray for Pastor Thomas as he struggles to work at night and minister to both his family and congregation during the day. Pray for health, as the children and Florence suffer from ailments due to the poor sanitary conditions of this community.

However, we praise God for the blessings He has given to the Abach family. Praise God for the opportunity for seminary education for Thomas, may he use that knowledge in leading Soweto and the surrounding area to a deeper knowledge of Christ. Praise God for a job for Thomas, pray that Florence will soon be able to find employment, to help supply the daily needs of their large family. Praise God for the dedication that Thomas shows to follow Jesus and to share the love of Him to others. Pray for endurance for Thomas, as he runs the race before him in being His "hands" and "feet" to Soweto.

Welcome to Lugoba Christian Church

Thank you for joining those of Lugoba Christian Church in prayer! This church is new and still building, piece by piece. Praise God for the provision He has given in supplies needed to construct this place of worship. There are still needs, like a roof, but God is good and able to supply this church with all it needs. Lugoba is a community in the suburbs of Kampala, many in this community need to hear the gospel. Pray that this church will be a beacon in this community. That the love and light of Jesus Christ will shine brightly to every corner and person. May those who worship here each Sunday be lights that are never hidden under a bushel, but shine brightly for Christ!

Pastor Deon Katende

Meet Pastor Deon, a young man devoted to the spreading of the gospel throughout Lugoba, Kawempe and beyond! Pray for Deon as he leads like Jesus to this new congregation. May he seek God in and through all things. May he be blessed with endurance, good health, a servants heart and a solid foundation of the Scriptures. Please pray that Jesus will be glorified to those in this commuity through the life of this young man.

Meet Local Chairman (LC) Jumah

A Local Chairman is like a mayor. Think of Jumah as the mayor of Lugoba! Please pray for his leadership within this community. There are hundreds and hundreds of men, women and children crammed into this small community. The church has a good relationship with the leaders of this community, pray that God will continue to bless this union. Pray that Jumah can see the hand of God work mightily through his community! May he seek God and His direction for Lugoba.
